Dazzling diva turns comical convert! Sponsored by Lubbock National Bank, July sees the 12th summer season of Lubbock Moonlight Musicals continue with the hit musical comedy, Sister Act! As penance for her "un-nunnley like" behavior, Deloris is forced to tune up the tone-deaf choir and finds herself winning friends and influencing papal...we mean people.

The conclusion of this story is a "see it to believe it" experience you and your whole family will not want to miss. So, pack a picnic, grab a lawnchair, and join us at the Moonlight Musicals Amphitheatre this summer! Gates open at 7PM, and the performances begin at 8PM.

Lubbock Chorale LOGO  THE LUBBOCK CHORALE PRESENTS:

The Glory of Venice
Hemmle Recital Hall
Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 7:30PM

At the height of the Renaissance and birth of the Baroque periods, Venice and its spectacular St. Mark's Cathedral were known throughout the Western world for musical innovation and profound creativity. The Venetian school represented a major stylistic shift from the prevailing polyphonic writing of the middle Renaissance, and gave rise to the poly-choral tradition (cori spezzati, or "separated choirs"), wherein choirs and instruments were spatially separated throughout the room. To conclude its season, The Lubbock Chorale and consorts of brass and stringed instruments will perform a concert that honors and celebrates this rich tradition, highlighting three master composers: Giovanni Gabrieli (1554-1612), Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643), and Heinrich Schutz (1585-1672). Concert patrons will be sumptuously surrounded by sound, as both singers and instruments perform antiphonally throughout Hemmle Recital Hall. Monteverdi's Venetian Vespers (1610) will be a featured major work.

Ticket sales will close at Select-A-Seat, online, and at our outlet locations at noon on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Tickets can be purchased after this time at the door for a $5.00 upcharge.
