Aviation Boot Camps at Silent Wings Museum
The Silent Wings Museum will host their two-part summer activity camps, Aviation Boot Camp I and II, in July at the Museum; the site of the World War II Glider Program’s advanced training.
Registration fee for each of the camps is $35 per child. The camps are designed to introduce children ages 8-12 to the daily life and training of a World War II glider pilot and soldier. Children will be enrolled as “cadets” and will participate in different activities which teach history, basic flight principles, navigation, military skills and teamwork.
The 2009 Summer Aviation Boot Camp proved to be such a success, the Museum added an additional camp, Aviation Boot Camp II. This new camp will allow past participants many new challenges. Further information and registration forms can be obtained from Lisa Howe, Silent Wings Museum Education Coordinator.
"I'm glad we are able to offer a new program that will afford last year’s cadets the chance to be involved again and learn more about the glider program," said Howe.
